Commission on Domestic Violence contains facts about domestic violence and includes information about
how to take a multidisciplinary approach to domestic violence. It gives some very specific
suggestions about how to help victims individually and how to organize your community to
fight this problem.
A Community Checklist:
Important Steps to End Violence Against Women (U.S. Department of Justice Advisory Council
on Violence Against Women) explains what specific groups, such as health professionals, law enforcement, the media,
sports organizations, the workplace, religious organizations and colleges, can do to stop
domestic violence.
Resources for
Health Professionals (Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse)
contains a list of resources, such as videotapes, booklets, protocols,
etc., mostly geared for nurses and physicians.
Clinical Protocols
for Health Care Settings, Family Violence Fact Sheets for Community Leaders (Family Peace
Project, Medical College of Wisconsin) details how to
handle suspected domestic violence cases. Geared for
family practice physicians, but many of the suggestions are helpful for prehospital
providers as well.
